Your Hatchling’s First Visit

What to Bring to Your First Visit
We’re so excited to meet you and your little one! To help things go smoothly, here’s a quick checklist of what to bring on the big day:
Complete New Patient Forms On Our Portal
Insurance Card
(if applicable)
Photo ID
for the parent or guardian
Any medical or dental records you'd like to share
Your child’s favorite comfort item
(blanket, toy, or stuffed friend = smiles!)
Parent or legal guardian
For your child’s first visit, your child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian— someone who can sign forms and make care decisions.
Not sure who qualifies as a legal guardian? Give us a call — we’re happy to help make sure everything’s squared away before your visit!
First Visit Reminders
Arrive 15 minutes early
This helps us get everything ready and allows time to settle in.
Talk about the visit in a fun, positive way
Try saying: “The dentist helps keep your teeth strong and healthy!” Even just saying “the dentist is a helper” can work wonders.
We go at your child’s pace
There’s no pressure — just a gentle, kind introduction to dental care. The first visit is all about making your child feel comfortable. We’ll go at their pace.

Your First Visit
What to Expect at Every Little Tooth

At Every Little Tooth, we believe the first dental visit is a BIG deal — it’s where lifelong smiles begin! We’re here to make it a happy, stress-free experience for you and your child.

Our Gentle, Kid-Friendly Approach

Whether your little one is a toddler, a talkative kindergartener, or a nervous first-timer, we tailor the visit to meet their unique needs. Our team specializes in pediatric care — that means patience, playfulness, and lots of encouragement.
We take things slow, explain what we’re doing in fun, kid-friendly ways, and never rush. Every child is different — and we meet them exactly where they are.

Step by Step: What Happens at the First Visit
1
Welcome + Check-In

You’ll be greeted with a smile, and we’ll make sure all forms are complete. Your child is welcome to bring a favorite toy or comfort item — we love stuffed animal assistants!

2
Tour + Meet the Team

We’ll show you around the office and introduce your child to the friendly faces who will be caring for their smile.

3
Gentle Exam, X-rays (if needed) + Cleaning

Depending on your child’s age and comfort, we may:

Count and examine their teeth
Take low-dose digital X-rays (only if necessary)
Gently clean their teeth

We only take X-rays when needed to check for things we can’t see with the eye — like cavities between teeth or how teeth are developing. Our equipment is safe, quick, and designed with your child’s comfort in mind. We’ll always explain the why, and make sure you’re completely in the loop.

4
You’re Involved!

Parents are welcome to stay with their child throughout the first visit to help them feel comfortable and supported. While you’re encouraged to be involved and informed every step of the way, please note that during actual treatment procedures, we may ask parents to wait in the waiting room.

5
Stickers, Prizes, High-Fives, + Goodie Bags

Every visit ends with a celebration! Your child will get a prize and a big “Great job!” for being brave and awesome.

When should my child first see the Dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling your child’s first visit by their first birthday or within 6 months of their first tooth. Early visits help prevent problems and build positive dental habits from the start!
